2022 Time Trial
After a super day of Time Trialing, John McCormack, Kieran Kelly, David-Hong Minh and Alan Kenny won out in the Black, Yellow, Blue and White groups respectively. John and Kieran both set club records for the black and yellow groups, with new joiner David getting into 3rd on the club records leaderboard for the Blues!
This was the first year we have had Whites participating in the time trial event, so Alan has set the whites benchmark for next year. An incredible performance from Alan who would have placed second by just 1 second against the blues!
Thanks to everyone for participating, and see you all again next time out!

2021 Time Trial
Early last year I put forward a proposal to conduct an ITT for the club. A survey was sent to all members looking for expressions of interest. The results of the survey indicated that there was more than sufficient interest in running the event.
As this was the first time a competitive event was being conducted by the club it took some time to set up and organise as we had to obtain approval both from Cycling Ireland and the local authorities. The route proposed (thank you again Brian Moran) was a 16.1 km tried and tested route used by the IVCA. You can view the route HERE. We were also able to use the parking facilities in the Hatchet Inn which was perfect as that was also the start and end of the route.
Although there were nearly 60 expressions of interest in taking part we only had 18 entries on the day. This was due in some part to the fact that there was a short period of notice leading up to the event and a number of club members had already made commitments on the day including the challenge of racing around Mondello Park for 24 hours in the rain. Whatever rocks your boat!
And so the inaugural CCC ITT took place on Sunday 17th October 2022. This was a graded event based on the colour codes used for club spins. The categories that took part were blue, yellow and black. There were 3 blues, 11 yellows and 4 blacks. The winners and their respective times are shown below. Congratulations to all the winners.
I would like to thank all those who took part and to the many volunteers who helped organise the event and those who marshalled on the day. The plan this year is for the club to conduct another event in the summer and again in the autumn so watch out for news on this. It will be a lot easier and quicker to set up and initiate the event as the same process can be re-applied. Thanks to Shay Hogan for the brilliant photos!
Cycle safe!
